The 4th German-Danish-Polish Seminar in the Region: 'A Unity in Diversity?'
From May 15th till May 17th the third German - Danish - Polish Seminar 'Transnational and cross-border relations in Europe: A unity in diversity?' gathered students and postgraduates not only from institution of higher education from Germany, Denmark and Poland, but also from Latvia and Ghana, as well as the European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) at the Akademie Sankelmark.
This seminar with participants from 10 different countries extended the international perspective of the so called German - Danish - Polish club founded about 2 years ago as an initiative of Prof. Dr. Charlotte Gaitanides (University of Flensburg) and Prof. Dr. Katarzyna Stoklosa (University of Southern Denmark).
The seminar was organized as part of the Jean Monnet module in European Studies and financed with the help of the European Commission (The Lifelong Learning Programme: education and training opportunities for all).
Besides its international perspective the seminar comprised interdisciplinary perspectives on the topic.
Cooperation in the Baltic Sea region in respect to gender diversity, the Danish-German identity question, the development of transnational spaces in Europe within the regional policy and the foreign policy, Culture shock and acculturation for international students in the Baltics and Cooperation in international rivers on a supranational, national and regional level were only some of the topics that the participants of the seminar covered.
Additionally to the academic debate, the participants also discovered the interesting history of the German - Danish border region by visiting the Castle of Glücksburg.
The seminar finished with further ideas for future events and cooperation.
